typing delay in report writer

Howdy,   My text typing has a VERY long delay, which means when I type something into my report I then have to wait for each letter to fill in before I can move on. This is effectively doubling my report-writing time. I deleted 3D and re-installed with the latest version, but the problem persists.   Advice needed!!!!
